On Tuesday, Morgan Stanley released a list of their "20 Best Dividend Stocks In America”. We decided to compare these top stock picks with the ratings of other premier sell-side analyst firms.

Of the 20 names, only 5 had any "buy" or "overweight" ratings from other firms we screened, which include Barclays, Argus, Deutche, Canacord Genuity, and Collin Stewart.

The first 5 on this list are the only stocks out of the 20 that had a match.

 

1. Pfizer Inc. (PFE, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): A biopharmaceutical company, offers prescription medicines for humans and animals worldwide. Market cap at $168.93B, most recent closing price at $22.56. Dividend yield at 3.89%. Argus also has a buy rating on this stock.

 

 

2. Honeywell International Inc. (HON, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): Operates as a diversified technology and manufacturing company worldwide. Market cap at $43.03B, most recent closing price at $55.22. Dividend yield at 2.78%. Barclays agrees with MS here with an Overweight rating.

 

3. Accenture PLC. (ACN, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): Accenture plc operates as a management consulting, technology services, and outsourcing company. The company has operations in approximately 200 cities in 54 countries. Market Cap at $36.4B, most recent closing price at $56.45. Dividend yield at 2.41%.  Deutche Bank has also rated this stock with buy.

 

4. General Electric Company (GE, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): Operates as a technology, service, and finance company worldwide. Market cap at $208.94B, most recent closing price at $19.72. Dividend yield at 3.41%. Barclays Capital also giving the nod on this company.

 

5. Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): Develops, and operates various integrated resort properties primarily in the United States, Macau, and Singapore. Market cap at $37.59B, most recent closing price at $45.69. Dividend yield at 2.37%. Argus also rates this stock with a buy.

 

6. Baxter International Inc. (BAX, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): Develops, manufactures, and markets products for people with hemophilia, immune disorders, infectious diseases, kidney disease, trauma, and other chronic and acute medical conditions. Market cap at $27.B, most recent closing price at $49.03. Dividend yield at 2.59%.

 

7. Invesco Ltd. (IVZ, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): Provides its services to individuals, typically high net worth individuals. Market cap at $9.82B, most recent closing price at $21.91. Dividend yield at 3.22%.

 

 

8. Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (MMC, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): Provides advice and solutions in the areas of risk, strategy, and human capital. Market cap at $17.4B, most recent closing price at $31.86. Dividend yield at 2.95%.

 

 

9. Lear Corp. (LEA, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): Engages in the design and manufacture of automotive seat systems and related components for automobiles and light trucks. Market cap at $2.9B, most recent closing price at $37.39. Dividend yield at 1.5%.

12. ACE Limited (ACE, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): Provides a range of insurance and reinsurance products to insureds worldwide. Market cap at $24.59B, most recent closing price at $72.61. Dividend yield at 2.75%.

 

 

13. Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): Engages in refining, transporting, and marketing petroleum products primarily in the United States and internationally. Market cap at $13.42B, most recent closing price at $39.40. Dividend yield at 2.36%.

 

 

14. Colgate-Palmolive Co. (CL, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): Colgate-Palmolive Company, together with its subsidiaries, manufactures and markets consumer products worldwide. Market cap at $48.35B, most recent closing price at $101.32. Dividend yield at 2.45%.

 

 

15. Western Union Co. (WU, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): Provides money transfer and payment services worldwide. Market cap at $9.86B, most recent closing price at $16.08. Dividend yield at 2.43%.

 

 

16. Cardinal Health, Inc. (CAH, Earnings, Analysts, Financials): Operates as a healthcare solutions company that provides health care products and services. Market cap at $14.47B, most recent closing price at $41.82. Dividend yield at 2.35%.

    sell side analysts are market makers . . . their advice is primarily to generate sales not to do what is in the best interest of the client. that said, there are no truly 'bad' stock recommendations here; just more of the same that everyone else essentially says. so, if you're into following the herd . . .
