Gold futures for the August delivery dropped slightly on Monday 18 after a 2.3% increase from hope for easing from the world’s major central banks. The drop was shielded against by worries about Spain and the increase in their interest rates, according to MarketWatch.

The futures contract traded down to $1,606.90 per ounce early in the trading day, while investors and traders focused on the difficulties that Spain is experiencing. Their 10-year bond yields rose past 7%, which is often referred to as a panic point, according to T & K Futures’ Michael Smith.

The futures were kept higher on threats of a Greek euro exit last week, but the nation’s New Democracy party, who wants to keep the euro, took a narrow victory. Gold is expected to continue to trade higher from the likelihood of easing monetary policy, as well as government policies that will keep real interest rates negative.

Business Section: Investing Ideas

Gold futures contracts will likely continue to see strong gains from euro troubles and government policies. And gold miners and sellers could take advantage of the higher gold prices as well.
