Looking for more metrics to evaluate a stock’s valuation and outlook? If so, let’s take a look at levered free cash flow and insider buying.

These tools can help to identify undervalued stocks. They can be used together or combined with other investment metrics.

How do they work? Let’s review:

Insider Buying – Significant net purchases over the last six months

Pretty self-explanatory… Insiders work for the company in question and their investment activity is closely monitored. Insiders usually have access to more information than us outsiders, and their investment activity in the company can tell us a lot about where they feel the business is heading.

The list below features names experiencing insider buying over the past six months (an indicator that insiders think the stock is undervalued).

Insider buying is represented as a percentage of shares float. Shares float is described as the total number of shares available for trading. It is calculated by subtracting restricted shares from outstanding shares.

Levered free cash flow (LFCF) to Enterprise Value Ratio

Levered free cash flow is the free cash flow after deducting interest payments on outstanding debt. Enterprise value is the sum of the firm’s value from all ownership sources: market cap, outstanding debt, and preferred shares. The higher the ratio, the more undervalued the company appears. The list below features names with a high LFCF/EV ratios.

We screened a list of stocks with market caps over $300 Million that met both of the above requirements at significant levels. We were left with a list of 5 names that we have detailed below.

Given this information, do you feel these names are undervalued? Use the list as a starting point for your own analysis.
